Chicken salt is arguably the finest seasoning for fresh hot chips and rotisserie chickens in the world. Bright yellow and packed with flavour, Australians douse chicken salt on their food at every local takeaway.

We could have tried to make our own but it wouldn’t be the same… so we imported it directly from the manufacturer!

All our salt is air freighted from Sydney in 7-10 days and is as fresh (if not fresher) than local chip shops in Australia. A four month long cargo ship journey sailing half way round the world in sweltering heat is not an option!

About us

The Chicken Salt Co. was founded in 2017 and is (still) the first and only chip shop chicken salt seller filling a gap in the UK market for the real deal chicken salt you find in local takeaways in Australia… not the supermarket stuff but the real imported wholesaler salt, coarsely grounded and intensely yellow.

The founders and owners

William Adams: Founder and Co-Owner, Sir Chicken of Salt

William and Laura Adams founded The Chicken Salt Co. in 2017 shortly after moving from Sydney to London. Our mission is to import authentic chicken salt and sell it to hungry people across the UK and Ireland; British and Irish people who miss chicken salt after trying it on holiday alongside Australians and Kiwis living abroad.

We do everything ourselves; website hosting and design, label designs, social media and purchasing labels, bags and postage, as well as importing chicken salt from Australia. In a way this gives us a huge amount of flexibility to help customers and businesses alike, decision making is… well pretty simple with just two people!

James Blyth: Director of Exports

James joined The Chicken Salt Co. in 2022 and is our Director of Exports. A born and bred Sydneysider, James lives in southern Sydney and is responsible for the logistics, customs paperwork and export of all our products in Australia, from the manufacturer to export via Australia Post.

James is a regular visitor to our shores and has often complained about the lack of world class seasoning on hot chips. We can’t remember if this is 100% accurate but it’s at least 75% accurate, and that is definitely a pass mark.

How do you package chicken salt for export?

Chicken salt and Kentuckiana Hot Chip Seasoning are packaged securely in large airtight tins, directly from the manufacturer, inside cardboard boxes. Using industrial strength packing tape to combine boxes they are exported with minimal alteration.

Company Information

The Chicken Salt Co. is a start-up company based in Hersham, Surrey registered as a limited company called The Chicken Salt Company Ltd (Company Number 12197687). Our website is the face of the company using Starling Bank connected to the following payment processors:

  • WooCommerce Payments (Stripe) for credit card payments
  • PayPal Business for PayPal payments

We have the required food hygiene certificates in order to import, process and pack chicken salt in accordance with the EU General Food Law (Regulation (EC) No 178/2002).

Are you in the business of partnering with us?

We sell our Trade Pack (2kg) online however if you need a larger quantity for your business (i.e. chicken salted chips at a pub) get in touch with us via the contact page. Deliveries in 2021 are irregular due to the pandemic so 2kg is usually our limit per order.

The Founder

The Chicken Salt Co. was first dreamed of in 2017 by William Adams; a chicken salt devotee and Londoner who lived in Sydney for 11 years and is now an Australian citizen. You can find him on Facebook or Twitter if you’d like a chat.

Why hasn’t anyone done this before?

That is both a good question and a very good question. We’re not sure ourselves. If we’re not the first, what happened to the previous attempts? Chicken salt is dynamite and it practically sells itself!
